Canarsie Pier, 1953
Canarsie Pier is a workingman's resort, where you can
fish, enjoy the sea breeze, picnic and meet friends. At the time this photo
was taken there was also a beach, but swimming in the dubious
waters of Jamaica Bay is not advisable nowadays. The structure in
the background is the concession stand as it looked in 1953.
